Well Bow season has come and gone for Elk. Sept was the hottest month of record for Colorado and this made elk hunting in my area difficult. I was really hoping to tag an elk this year as it may be my last season in Colorado and I am kind of disappointed. However, for me it's not always about tagging an animal. Sometimes its just spending time in the outdoors and seeing what is out there.
These Aspens are off rampart range road on a small side road. Its a huge area of Aspens in the middle of all the evergreens.
About mid season I did call in an a 5x5 elk to about 50 yards, but he was in the middle of trees and I had no shot. I played with him for about 15 minutes then ran out of legal shooting light and he walked off as quietly as he came in. Its amazing that a 800 lb animal can walk that quietly in the woods.
Enjoy the pics, I'll try to find something more interesting to write about next time.
