Ice Fishin Tarryall

Wanted: One working Eskimo Ice Auger, just one...that works...
The last known working location of the Auger...11 Mile....approx 3 Jan 2008 1200ish Local...It was a good Auger....

The part Arrives!!! And the part breaks....It was a good auger....

The morning started out great. Hardly any wind, mid 20's and blue sky! Jeff and his merry men got there about 0730ish, The award winning team of Ski, Brian and Outlaw Jesse James Barnett showed about 20 mins later after fighting off the North Koreans (NoKos) in the Woodland Park MacDees. The ever popular and stunningly good looking team of TommyG, Rich, Dave and John were fashionably late as usual.

First Comes the bad news...Ski broke TommyG's and Rich's auger...Brian wanted to tell Mr. G and Mr Eddy that it was broke and we were trying to fix it but was blackmailed by Ski....I figured TommyG would understand some...I had my money on Rich whippin Skis ass...See he is a big country looking boy that wears camo, which means he is from Planet Kickass and would pound Ski in the ground. But Alas....He was understanding as well...

For those that dont know, Ski borrowed TG and RE's auger, broke the pull start, ordered a new one, had it professionally installed by me on Friday night (Ops Check out was fine), proceded to take it to Taryall Saturday morning and promptly break it again....

TommyG aint happy....

Rich wernt much happier either...

TommyG was mad enough he didnt even use an auger to dig this hole. He just pounded it out with his iron fist..

TommyG and Dave workin hard diggin some holes...

Finally everyone gets settled down and starts fishin. I do have to Say Jeff has sold his soul to the Fishin Gods. I dont know what he did, or what he does but he catches fish. Never seen anything like it. He had like 15 fish on the ice by the time I got there...

The Good News is 12 people, yes you read that right 12 folks showed up today. Like I said its a BIG event and honor to go Ice fishin with these guys. What are they all standin around for though? Why its Lunch time!!! And what a magnificent spread we had. RE brought a wonderful smoked Turkey, RD brought some great Elk sausage, and TG brought all the fixins! What a feast! Cept the Turkey made me sleepy, and I know I feel asleep out on the ice at least once...

THIS is why everyone was standin around, Look at that spread!
It takes one whole sled just to bring out the food!!

Marco caught his first fish. Hope it taste just as good!

These two guys are also from Planet Kickass. Manly Men that dont need no shelter to fish. This was around the 12th fish Jody and Jeff caught.

Finally around 1100ish the winds started picking up and it got a bit overcast. Ski broke out his Ice hut, and we fished in there for a while. We call this look on Ski "Blue Steel"

For those who saw me stylin in the wearable sleeping bag, its made by Exped and called the Wallcreeper. It worked GREAT! I sustained 18-20 MPH winds in it, with temps down to 7 MPH with the wind chill. Of course the men from Planet Kickass were wearing bathing suits today...You can read my test report on it here.

The Final Count came to Jeff, and those guys with 12. Me - 3, Ski - 3, Outlaw - 1 (On Salmon eggs), Marco - 1. The fish wernt big, but I didnt get skunked like the last two weekends on 11 mile. Next trip is slated to be the annual MLK day Ice fishing trip. In the past that was usually the first time out. This time we've been lucky enough to go three times already!!

p.s. Thankfully TG and RE were VERY understanding and at least didnt act mad.

BT
