I found some old video that I did of some FD training. Its around 1998 at Lincoln Parish FD in Ruston Louisiana.
Its a flashover prop. To set it up, its two shipping like containers. One is turned vertical, the other is butted against it horizontal. The end with all the fire is double layered plywood on three sides and the top. There are baffles about 4-5 feet up in the section where the students sit. The fire burns, and all the superheated gas and air layers down and moves to the back. When it gets hot enough it burst into flames. The air is burning at this point. The baffles help control the burn.
We all have aluminum foil on our hats to help protect our heads. We are kneeling or sitting on the floor, and the flames are about 2-3 feet above our heads. At its hottest its 1200 degrees F at the top, and 500 degrees F where we are sitting at the base of the flames.

In the infamous words of Beavis and Butthead...Heh Heh Fire Fire!!!
